Label Printing
Label Printing
Any labels needed for the build can be printed from the Labels tab on the pack assignment building screen. This should be done right before the build is completed, however it is possible to return to a pack assignment and print the labels after the build has been completed. There are three different labels that can possibly be printed here: the master case, PTI, and pre-pack.
Master Case Label
The master case label is printed to go on each case containing multiple packed items. It includes the customer and customer site, packed item description, lot number, and master case quantity.
On the master case print form you can fill in the input for the master case quantity and determine how many labels you want to print. When you set a master case quantity the final case quantity and number of labels to print will be automatically calculated for each order. However, you can change these values if needed. The labels for each order can be printed individually or you can print all of the labels at once using the Print All button.
It is also possible to setup an item so that the master case quantity is already calculated for you, allowing you to simply click print to get the number of labels you need.
Calculating the Master Case Quantity
In order to calculate the master case quantity, the master pack size needs to be set for the packed item.
To set the master pack size, go to the Edit Item page for the packed item. Select the Company Sites tab. The master pack size can be set for multiple company sites, so first select the company site you want to set the master pack size for. The master pack size should be the amount of that item that will be packed into a full case. Enter the master pack size and click Save.
When printing labels, one master case label is printed for each case. For a full case the full master pack size will be printed on the label. For the final label the remaining quantity will be printed. For instance, if the build is for a quantity of 25 and the master pack size is 20, then 2 labels will be printed. The first label will show the master pack size of 20 and the second label will show the master pack size of 5.
PTI Label
When you need to print a PTI label, simply choose the unit of measure to be printed and set a print quantity. Buttons have been provided to quickly set the print quantity to per item or per case. Per item will set the print quantity equal to the pack assignment quantity to pack and per case will use the master case quantity to determine the number of labels to print. The master pack size must be set for the item in order for the per case print quantity to be set.
Pre-Pack Label
The pre-pack label contains a barcode that can be scanned when that item is packed for an order and shipped. This label should be put on items going into stock. To print this label the build needs to be saved first so that a lot number can be assigned to it. Once the build is saved all that needs to be provided is a print quantity specifying the number of labels to print.
Post-Build Label Printing
Sometimes pack labels need to be printed after the build has been completed. It is possible to view a pack assignment at any point after it's created and print the labels, even after the build was completed. This can be done in the following ways:
- Go to edit a sales order, then click the "Go To..." button at the bottom of the page and select Pack Assignments. From there you will see a list of all pack assignments created from that order. Select the pack assignment you wish to view.
- From the assignment dashboard, on the production tables tab, click the status of any pack assignment. You can also click the assignment in the Item Summary on the Spreadsheet tab.
